Baltpool international biomass exchange boosts its sustainability credentials with two new certifications
Baltpool international biomass exchange now offers the ability to trade biomass with European Commission-approved SuRe and KZR sustainability certificates. This increases the geography of international trading transactions and promotes the trading of sustainable biomass on the biomass international exchange.
“Our aim is to be the No. 1 choice for trading sustainable biomass in Europe, so we want to provide exchange participants with all the tools they need to trade sustainable products easily and competitively,” says Baltpool CEO Andrius Smaliukas.
The Baltpool biomass exchange has become well known for its commitment to sustainability. In addition to the new sustainability certificates, Baltpool has offered products with SBP, FSC, and ENplus certificates for some now.
Baltpool was also appointed administrator of the RED II national scheme in Lithuania this year. As part of its commitment, the company is developing a system that will allow suppliers selling biomass in Lithuania to easily demonstrate compliance with RED II sustainability requirements.
Recently, Baltpool introduced a new service for exchange participants – the possibility to enter into long-term index-linked biomass trades. The aim is to encourage participants to enter into long-term biomass sales and purchase transactions in advance. This will ensure that the price of transactions is adjusted in line with market price trends at the time of supply.
