Biomass exchange and heat trade statistics – May of 2021
- The value of the BWCS (Baltpool Wood Chips SPOT) LT index has reached 9.86 EUR/MWh. A decrease of 12.4% per month, and an increase of 22,4% per year has been recorded in the value of the index.
- At the end of the heating season, the total amount of biomass delivered in May decreased by 54.8%, compared to April, and amounted to 229 632 MWh (92.6% were delivered under short-term contracts). Compared to the same period last year, the amount of delivered biomass has decreased by 1.5%.
- In preparation for the upcoming heating season, participants of the exchange have already concluded contracts for the supply of 144 760 MWh of biomass for the next heating season at an average price of 12.92 EUR/MWh. This makes up 3.7% of the demand for contracts for the next heating season compared to the demand for biomass purchased via the Baltpool Exchange for the heating season of 2020-2021. The price of concluded contracts is higher by 19.9% than the average biomass supply price of the previous heating season.
