Biomass exchange overview – November 2020
In November, foreign trade amounted to 5,600 MWh (10 contracts). In Estonia, one of the country’s largest biomass buyers, “Enefit Energiatootmine” AS (the “Eesti Energia” group), continued its regular Spot trade. The average price under Spot contracts in Estonia is currently at 12.70 EUR/MWh.
Latvian buyers are successfully availing of biomass delivered under long-term contracts concluded at the exchange. The average price of delivered biomass under long-term contracts in Latvia is currently at 12.30 EUR/MWh. The electronic trading system “Finbex” has successfully commenced operations in Finland (https://finbex.fi). We are developing this trading system in cooperation with our Finnish partners.
The “Baltpool” trading system is being actively presented on the Swedish market. In Sweden, “Baltpool” is cooperating with the Swedish biomass association “Svebio”. Plans are to commence trade via the Swedish platform in 2021 using the available trading system www.baltpool.eu.
On 1 January 2021, “Baltpool” will start to independently develop exchange operations in Denmark under its own trademark and using its own trading system. Starting from 2018, we have worked in Denmark in cooperation with our partner. From now on, participants of the “Baltpool” exchange will be able to trade in Denmark using the same system and avail of all the opportunities offered by the exchange in other countries (i.e. at www.baltpool.eu).
Plans are to commence trade according to FOB, CIF and FAS conditions in January 2021.
