Biomass exchange overview – September 2020
Foreign trade was more active in September than in August. Some largest buyers of Estonian and Latvian markets were purchasing biomass on the exchange. Short-term contracts for the supply of 7,000 MWh of biomass were concluded. The weighted contract price was 11.73 EUR/MWh in Latvia and 12.42 EUR/MWh in Estonia. Compared to the same period of 2019, the price in Latvia decreased by 6% and the price in Estonia, since the last transaction concluded in March 2020, has fallen by 15%. The prices of SPOT contracts in Lithuania are currently 26% lower than in Latvia and 30% lower than in Estonia.
The active presentation of the exchange activities to the Swedish market participants continues. Together with the Swedish partner – SVEBIO, consultations and training for the largest participants in this market are carried out.
