Starting 1 June 2025 – API integration and RED BP biomass sustainability scheme services will move to a paid model

Starting 1 June 2025, we will be introducing charges for two Baltpool services that, until now, were provided free of charge:

  • Biomass Exchange API Integration
  • RED BP Biomass Sustainability Scheme

These changes are being made to ensure long-term quality, regulatory compliance, and continued improvement of services that have become essential to many of our partners.

What’s changing?

API integration with the Biomass Exchange:

  • This service allows for automated retrieval of transaction, delivery, quality report and bill of lading information and automated creation of a quality report and bill of lading.
  • As of 1 June 2025, a 35 EUR/month (if paid by month) or 300 EUR/year (if paid annually) will apply for continued use.

RED BP Sustainability Scheme

  • This scheme enables participants to comply with EU RED II sustainability and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction criteria, without the complexity of administrative burden.
  • As of 1 June 2025, participation in RED BP scheme will be subject to a fee of 0,01 EUR per MWh of delivered wood chips.

Why are we doing this?
We are committed to providing digital tools and compliance frameworks that support efficient, transparent, and sustainable biomass trading. These services require ongoing investment — from development and audits to cross-border regulatory alignment. By introducing a fair pricing model, we ensure the sustainability and quality of these solutions long-term.

What do you need to do?

  • These changes will take effect from 1 June 2025. No action is needed if you wish to continue using these services. The new pricing will be applied automatically from June 1.
  • If you choose not to continue, you have the option to opt out free of charge before 31 May 2025 by contacting our customer support team in written on [email protected]. If you don’t, we’ll deem that you accept the changes.

We’re committed to transparency and fairness, so we want to ensure you’re fully informed. Feel free to contact us with any questions, for frequently asked questions you check on by clicking here.
